6 Shopify product photography hacks that lift conversions
October 6, 2026 · 5 min read
Simple shooting and editing tricks for consistent, catalogue-ready Shopify product photos.
Shoot next to a window
Soft daylight from the side beats most cheap lights. Put a sheet of white card opposite the window to fill in shadows.
Keep every product the same size in frame
Shoppers compare thumbnails side by side. Use the same distance and framing for every product, then crop to a square so your collection grid looks tidy.
Swap messy backgrounds for clean white
Shopify themes look best with pure white or light grey backgrounds. Remove the background in PixelGlows and choose the studio white preset for a consistent catalogue.
Add one lifestyle shot per product
After the clean hero image, add a photo showing the product in use. Magic Edit can place a product on a desk, shelf or kitchen counter without a new shoot.
Export at 2048 × 2048
Shopify recommends square images around 2048 pixels for sharp zoom. Name files with the product name to help search engines.
